Even though the Westlake Demons scored an imposing 57 points on Monday, the Avon Eagles still came out on top. Avon secured a 63-57 W over Westlake. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Avon also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Avon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Molly Drenik out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Drenik is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Owens, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Avon's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-7. As for Westlake, they dropped their record down to 9-6 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avon on the road again on Wednesday and play against Elyria at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th. Elyria has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 11. As for Westlake, they will head out on the road to square off against Rocky River at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
