1A Southern Peaks recap Oct. 16, 2012
Centauri extended the longest winning streak in 1A Southern Peaks this week by beating Del Norte, 34-7. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Monte Vista led the league in scoring this week after putting up 41 points on Dolores. Michael Sanchez threw for 105 yards and one touchdown and ran for 90 yards in the win.
Centauri's KC Jarvies and Clay McCarroll have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jarvies has thrown for 602 yards this season, while McCarroll, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 13 catches for 308 yards. The Pirates' Shadron Wenta leads the league in rushing yards with 876.
A big matchup in 1A Southern Peaks this week will be when Kyle Forster's team takes on the Bears. At the moment, the Falcons are in second, while Dolores is in third.
