The Plainfield North Tigers will head out to face off against the Plainfield Central Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Plainfield North was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bolingbrook on Wednesday. The Tigers never let the Raiders get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won eight in a row.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Plainfield Central and Plainfield South have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Wildcats blew past the Cougars 13-3. Considering the Wildcats have won 14 contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mia Dashel made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Maeve Carlton was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ava Zitello, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Plainfield Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plainfield South only posted an OBP of .300.
Plainfield North's record now sits at 15-10. As for Plainfield Central, their record is now 20-10.
Plainfield North skirted past Plainfield Central 6-5 in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
