Daniel Diaz was the top pitcher in III Section II this week, leading
Willcox. He won two games and struck out 20 batters.
League leaders
Coolidge (5-0 in the league play, 8-4 overall) and
Bisbee (4-0, 14-2) will look to grab hold of first place in the standings this week. Last week, the Bears went 0-1, while the Pumas was 2-0.
Thatcher struck out 48 times as a team over the past week, but
San Tan Foothills is still the biggest offender of strikeouts on the season, with 115 in all.
Although the Cowboys gave up only nine hits last week, fewest in the league,
Horizon Honors leads the league with just 30 allowed all season.
There were 15 hitters that batted over .400 in the league this week. They were led by Sergio Labrada, who hit .714 this week (5-for-7).
After picking up two wins and 20 strikeouts this week, Diaz now leads the league in both categories.
Mike Skiles was an RBI machine on Tuesday, as he knocked in four runs during
Tombstone's 20-2 win over
Patagonia. He went 2-for-2 and scored two runs.
Willcox's Diaz struck out ten the Yellow Jackets hitters en route to a 5-1 victory on April 1. Over six innings of work, he gave up three hits and one run.
