Cocoa is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Palm Bay is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cocoa Tigers will take on the Palm Bay Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cocoa stacked a fifth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They breezed by Astronaut at home to the tune of 63-0. Given Cocoa's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Astronaut is ranked 410th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cocoa found their leader in underclassman Brady Hart, who threw for 132 yards and five touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Cj Bragg, who picked up 42 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Cocoa's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Astronaut's QB won't forget Xadrian Smith anytime soon given Smith sacked him four times.
Meanwhile, a win is a win, as they say, even a pretty close 7-3 win over Sebastian River.
Cocoa's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Palm Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Everything came up roses for Cocoa against Palm Bay in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 49-3 win. Does Cocoa have another victory up their sleeve, or will Palm Bay turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
