Statesville will challenge North Iredell on the road at 7:30 PM on Friday. Statesville don't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
It was all tied up at halftime, but Statesville weren't quite South Iredell's equal in the second half when they met last Friday. Statesville had victory within their grasp but couldn't quite capture it as the squad lost 19-20 to South Iredell. Junior Caylon Imes and sophomore Chavion Smith were two go-getters for Statesville despite the defeat. The former rushed for 96 yards and 1 touchdown, while the latter.
Meanwhile, North Iredell have to be hurting after a devastating 30-57 loss at the hands of Jesse Carson. The state rankings had actually given North Iredell a slight edge heading into the game, making this hurt that much more.
With the two teams each stumbling in off of a defeat, both will be hungry for the victory. North Iredell's offensive line will need to gear up for a tough test against a Statesville defensive front that amassed five sacks against South Iredell, so we'll see if they are up to the task.
