Basketball Recap: Brandon Hill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southern Nash over Roanoke Rapids

Southern Nash lost against Roanoke Rapids back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Southern Nash Firebirds lost to the Roanoke Rapids Yellowjackets at home by a 59-45 margin.

Southern Nash's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brandon Hill, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 12 points and eight rebounds. Hill is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Hartsfield, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points.

Roanoke Rapids' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khamauri Wood, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Wood has posted since back in January of 2024. Bryce Spillane was another key player, going 5 of 11 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds.

Southern Nash's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Roanoke Rapids, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

Southern Nash wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 63-35 loss against Hunt on the 26th. As for Roanoke Rapids, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-43 victory against Gates County on the 26th.
