Providence Academy lost to Greenland last Saturday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Pirates. Considering the Patriots have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Abby Roy was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. Roy was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 5-for-5. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Providence Academy got a massive performance out of Camden Griggs, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Griggs has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times she's played. Ellie Keen was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Providence Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Greenland, they moved to 14-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence Academy will head out to take on Union Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Patriots are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Greenland, they will challenge County Line at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
