Smith Valley has gone a perfect 9-0 against Excel Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Bulldogs will take on the Warriors at 12:00 p.m. Smith Valley will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Smith Valley made easy work of Sage Ridge and carried off a 3-0 win.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-7, 25-11.
Smith Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lexie Gray, who had 14 kills, six digs, three aces, and one block. That's the most aces Gray has posted since back in September. Audrina Banta was another key player, getting 12 digs, nine kills, and three aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Smith Valley was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Excel Christian came up short against Coleville on Saturday, falling 3-0.
While Excel Christian ultimately came up short, they really made Coleville work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 28-26, 25-11.
Excel Christian has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Smith Valley, their win bumped their record up to 17-9.
Everything went Smith Valley's way against Excel Christian in their previous meeting back in October, as Smith Valley made off with a 3-0 victory. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
