Softball Recap: Cotter Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Cotter, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Everything went their way against Life Way Christian on Thursday as Cotter made off with a 16-1 victory. Considering Cotter has won five matchups by more than 11 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Myah McNutt was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Cotter got a massive performance out of Riley Brotherton, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Tucker, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Cotter's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Life Way Christian, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

When Cotter and Life Way Christian next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Cotter will challenge Viola and their six-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on April 1st. Cotter's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Life Way Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Similarly, Life Way Christian will try to stop Providence Academy's four-game winning streak when they meet at 5:00 p.m. on April 8th. Cotter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
