Arab hasn't had much luck against Douglas recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Knights will face off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Arab has given up an average of 6.9 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Arab is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 21st on Thursday. They lost 12-2 to Scottsboro. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.
Emerson Christian made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Douglas earned a 5-1 victory over Guntersville on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.
Bella Baker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Ava Williams was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Brensyn Beck was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Arab's loss dropped their record down to 9-14-1. As for Douglas, their record is now 15-5.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Arab hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Douglas struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Arab couldn't quite finish off Douglas in their previous meeting back in February and fell 4-2. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
