Softball Recap: Corvallis' Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Corvallis's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 28-8 margin over the McKay Royal Scots. That looming 28-8 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

Olivia Richardson was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and three doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Parker Doerr, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and three doubles.

Corvallis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

With the victory, Corvallis broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-12. As for McKay, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Corvallis will venture away from home to face off against Bend at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Lava Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.56 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for McKay, they will head out on the road to square off against West Albany at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
