The Pocatello Thunder extended their postseason success on Friday against the Sandpoint Bulldogs. Pocatello put the hurt on Sandpoint with a sharp 44-23 win. The result was nothing new for Pocatello, who have now won four matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Pocatello got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dreyson Contreras out in front who threw for 206 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes. Ty Wilkinson was in the mix too, providing Pocatello with two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Sandpoint lost, one person who can't be blamed is Max Frank. Despite the final result, he gained 85 total yards and two touchdowns.
The win (which was Pocatello's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.6 points per game. As for Sandpoint, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Pocatello will square off against Bishop Kelly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Kelly knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Pocatello likes a good challenge. Sandpoint does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
