The Omaha Northwest Huskies's seven-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Tuesday. They walked away with an 80-71 win over Omaha South. Omaha Northwest's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Omaha Northwest had a senior duo take command as Chiok John dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds and Michael Seals scored 24 points along with six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Dontae McDowell, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Several Packers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lou Hodoly, who scored 19 points. Hodoly scored a full 26.8% of Omaha South's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Keegan Kimble was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Omaha South were working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha Northwest only posted 17 assists.
Omaha Northwest's victory bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Omaha South, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Omaha Northwest is on the road again on Saturday and play against Millard North on January 6th. As for Omaha South, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Papillion-LaVista at 7:15 p.m. Hopefully Papillion-LaVista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
