Basketball Game Preview: Riverside Rangers vs. Mountain View Lobos

Riverside and Mountain View are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2018, but not for long. The Riverside Rangers will host the Mountain View Lobos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverside will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Riverside's offense will try to repeat the strong performance it gave on Tuesday, when they got past Fabens' usually-dominant defense. Riverside took their contest with ease, bagging a 66-19 win over Fabens. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-10.

Riverside got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zoey Quintana out in front who posted six points along with 11 steals and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Quintana a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jocelyn Castro, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 16 points and six steals.

Riverside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mountain View, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They slipped by Clint 38-37 on Tuesday.

Riverside pushed their record up to 16-8 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Mountain View, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Riverside was able to grind out a solid victory over Mountain View when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 44-33. Will Riverside repeat their success, or does Mountain View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
