Division II AA - West recap Oct. 23, 2012
Memphis University extended the longest winning streak in Division II AA - West this week by beating White Station, 41-28. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
St. Benedict at Auburndale took down Carver 49-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Christian Brothers's dynamic duo of Benjamin Gallagher and Anthony Miller proved tough for Douglass to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Gallagher threw for 62 yards and two touchdowns and Miller had 61 yards receiving. Greg Sanders helped Christian Brothers' passing attack out by catching one ball for 16 yards.
Shane Tucker was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 166 yards as Memphis University defeated the Red Devils. Colton Neel also contributed to the rushing game with 62 yards on the ground.
6-foot-1 quarterback Jordan Rodgers of Bobby Alston's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1891. He has also thrown 26 touchdowns. On the ground, Christian Brothers' Kurtis Hicks has rushed for 736 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Miller. The Christian Brothers star has 36 catches for 580 yards.
Going into this week's game against Briarcrest Christian, the Owls' Rodgers needs 109 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in Division II AA - West this week will be when Memphis University takes on the Saints. At the moment, the Owls are in second, while Briarcrest Christian is in third.
The Eagles led the league in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on the Cobras.
