After two games on the road, Skyview is heading back home. They will take on the Vallivue Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Skyview lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Saturday was a bit more commanding. They suffered a tough 77-53 loss at the hands of Capital. While losing is never fun, Skyview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Capital is ranked seventh).
Meanwhile, Vallivue fought the good fight in their overtime match against Ridgevue on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warhawks by a score of 85-83. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Thursday (68), Vallivue still had to take the loss.
Jace Martinez put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 46 points along with eight assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Anthony Berber was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Skyview has fallen quite a ways from their 19-7 record last season and are now at 3-5. As for Vallivue, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
Everything went Skyview's way against Vallivue in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as Skyview made off with a 71-48 win. Will Skyview repeat their success, or does Vallivue have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
