Basketball Recap: Mcallen Skates Past Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest with Ease

McAllen had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 39-point drubbing they dealt Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest on Friday. The McAllen Bulldogs simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas 78-39. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 22 points or more this season.

Leading McAllen to victory were Judah Rios and Dylan Gonzalez. Rios went 8 for 12 on his way to 18 points and three steals, while Gonzalez went 7 of 10 on his way to 18 points. Those 18 points gave Rios a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Benavidez, who posted five points in addition to six assists and three steals.

McAllen's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34 points. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McAllen will venture away from home to take on Sharyland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest will take on Rowe in a holiday battle at at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
