Basketball Recap: Calvary Christian Academy Takes a Loss

If Calvary Christian Academy was feeling good fresh off their 63-40 takedown of Olympia last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Calvary Christian Academy Lions were dealt a 57-27 defeat at the hands of the Mainland Buccaneers on Friday. The Lions have struggled against the Buccaneers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Calvary Christian Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alexis Brown, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 22 rebounds, and Naviyah Daniels, who posted two points and six boards. Those 22 rebounds gave Brown a new career-high.

Mainland got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shilah-Rayn Lord out in front who scored 14 points and seven assists. Brooklin Cooper was another key player, putting up 11 points along with eight boards and three steals.

Calvary Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Mainland, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Calvary Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-31 loss against Oviedo on the 28th. As for Mainland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-42 win against Flagler Palm Coast on the 27th.
