The Wickenburg Wranglers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their ninth straight defeat. They were beaten by Northwest Christian 65-33. Wickenburg found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and post nine fewer assists than your opponent.
Wickenburg's loss came despite strong showings from Lola Drescher and Katie Chavarria. Drescher scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Chavarria scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Drescher has scored all season.
Northwest Christian was led to victory by Quinn Gray and Katelyn Best. Gray scored 18 points along with three steals, while Best scored 17 points along with six assists and two steals. Best is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Lyons, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Wickenburg has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season. As for Northwest Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.
Wickenburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northwest Christian, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Camp Verde at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Northwest Christian is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
