Ashland hasn't had much luck against Marshfield recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Grizzlies will venture away from home to face off against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Friday, Ashland came up short against North Bend and fell 47-39.

Ashland's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of David Carter, who picked up 233 receiving yards and four scores, and Colton Hernandez, who threw for 382 yards and six TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. With that strong performance, Carter is now averaging an impressive 110.8 receiving yards per game. A healthy portion of Hernandez's aerial production (82 yards to be exact) also went to Oscar Hernandez, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Ashland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Saxon Brock. Ty Paulson was another major factor on D, making 15 total tackles.
Meanwhile, Marshfield strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mazama 49-6. Considering the Pirates have won four games by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Marshfield's win came from a few key players Ashland will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaden Tice, who rushed for 157 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries, and also picked up 42 receiving yards. Those 157 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Enoch Niblett was another key player, throwing for 236 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 82.4% of his passes.
Marshfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 287 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 159 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Marshfield, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Hadyn Widdicombe, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Ashland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Marshfield, their record now sits at 5-0.
Ashland came up short against Marshfield in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 41-33. Can the Grizzlies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
