The Chickasaw Chieftains waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins but they left with three. They put the hurt on Satsuma with a sharp 63-40 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Chickasaw also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Chickasaw's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sydrus Gilmore led the charge by scoring nine points along with four steals and two blocks. Gilmore hasn't dropped below two steals for 13 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Marvin Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Chickasaw's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Satsuma, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-22 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chickasaw will square off against the Golden Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Robertsdale is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Satsuma, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
