4A/3A MEGA 7 recap Oct. 3, 2012
West Mecklenburg moved up to 94 from 125 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A/3A MEGA 7. The Hawks were able to make the jump by beating Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology 39-0.
Charlotte Catholic came in at 17 in the state poll after placing at number 28 last week.
Olympic's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Rod Tinsley has thrown for 702 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Donte Simmons has 11 catches for 255 yards. Jarrett Harris leads the league in rushing with 544 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when West Mecklenburg takes on Olympic. As it stands, Jeff Caldwell's team is in second, while the Trojans are in third.
East Gaston was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in 4A/3A MEGA 7. The Warriors defeated Harding University 47-13 earlier in the week.
