It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Laurel Christian can now relate to. They took a 46-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. While losing is never fun, Laurel Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Lamar Christian is ranked 111th).
Meanwhile, Sylva Bay Academy was the victim of a tough 55-30 loss at the hands of Hillcrest Christian on Friday. Sylva Bay Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-10.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Brody Boyd, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Jabari Jones was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Laurel Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-16. As for Sylva Bay Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 18-7.
Laurel Christian lost to Sylva Bay Academy on the road by a decisive 45-31 margin in their previous matchup last Thursday. Can Laurel Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
