The Saguaro Sabercats will square off against the Perry Pumas at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Saguaro will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
While Saguaro's victory against Mesquite wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Saguaro narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Mesquite 9-7. The victory continues a trend for the Sabercats in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won four in a row.

Carter Bond looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Saguaro saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Louis Busseri, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Busseri has posted since back in February. Another was Chasen Niemann, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Perry faced Queen Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Perry blew past Queen Creek 16-6. Considering the Pumas have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Dane Jochumsen looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Those two hits allowed gave him a new career-low.
At the plate, Perry got a massive performance out of Andrew Hover, who went 2-for-4 with six RBI and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowen Noreus, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.
Perry kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in ten consecutive contests.
Saguaro's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Perry, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
Saguaro couldn't quite finish off Perry in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 and fell 3-1. Can Saguaro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
