The Hillcrest Huskies will face off against the Hunter Wolverines at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hillcrest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Hillcrest got the win against Taylorsville by a conclusive 9-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.
Gracie Pulham made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lanie Mathews, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Khloe Mellish, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.
Meanwhile, Hunter posted their closest win since April 19, 2025 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out West Jordan 10-9. The game was the first time the Wolverines have beaten the Jaguars on their field since May 17, 2021.
LEILA AIONO spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, ALEXA OLSEN was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of IZABELLA MAILO, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Hunter lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Jordan didn't launched any.
Hillcrest's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Hunter, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hillcrest has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. However, it's not like Hunter struggles in that department as they've averaged .498. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hillcrest beat Hunter 12-8 in their previous matchup back in March. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolverines turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
