Bayfield is 7-0 against Telluride since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Bayfield Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against the Telluride Miners at 5:30 p.m. Neither of these teams found much success offensively their last time out, scoring well below their season average.
Last Tuesday, Bayfield was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 28-23 to Dolores.
Renae Foutz put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 13 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Telluride, who are still winless after their fourth match. They fell 25-17 to Caprock Academy on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Telluride can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Caprock Academy is ranked 123rd).
Bayfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Telluride, their loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4.
Everything came up roses for Bayfield against Telluride when the teams last played back in February as the team secured a 55-10 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bayfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
