Basketball Recap: Remington Drops Highest Score of Season Against Classical

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Remington). They strolled past the Classical Saints with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 52-35. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Saints are ranked 106th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Classical's loss came despite strong showings from Nevi Wilkey and Maggie Neill. Wilkey went 8 of 17 on her way to 19 points, while Neill posted eight points and 11 boards. Neill has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played.

Remington's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.7 points per game. As for Classical, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Remington will host Trinity on Friday. Remington's defense has only allowed 29 points per game this season, so Trinity's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Classical, they will be playing at home against Moundridge at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
