This season hasn't been kind to The Sylvan Hills Bears, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They had to suffer through a rough 42-13 loss at the hands of El Dorado. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sylvan Hills in their matchups with El Dorado: they've now lost three in a row.
Mitchell Polk was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 275 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 13.8 yards per attempt. Bretaveon Brown was in the mix as well, providing El Dorado with two touchdowns.
El Dorado's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Spencer Poole and his two sacks.
Sylvan Hills' loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 12-1 Catholic and 7-1 Benton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 63% over those games). As for El Dorado, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-4.
Sylvan Hills will take on Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Marion presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sylvan Hills in Arkansas (Marion is ranked 17th, while Sylvan Hills is ranked 120th). As for El Dorado, they will head out on the road to face off against Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Catholic will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
