Cannon Morgan made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Morgan wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Xander Skoff, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was Skoff's first of the season. Another was Terry Sharp, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for North Sunflower Academy's offense. They came up short against Calhoun Academy on Friday, falling 12-0. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

West Memphis Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. North Sunflower Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
