The Wimberley Texans will venture away from home to take on the Navarro Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wimberley is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.
Last Friday, Wimberley sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Fredericksburg.
Jaden Hall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other pitching news, Jackson Parker looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Ty Thames was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Maverick Jacobs, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Navarro had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the BULLDOGS. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly five runs.
Like Wimberley, Navarro also got a great game from a two-way player: Colt Brown. He struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Brown was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Elijah Farley was a standout: he went 2-for-5 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. Those triples were his first of the season. Noah Rosas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Navarro kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Wimberley pushed their record up to 14-3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Navarro, their record now sits at 17-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Wimberley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Navarro struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wimberley couldn't quite get it done against Navarro when the teams last played back in May of 2023 as they fell 6-3. Can the Texans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
