In what's become a running theme this season, the New Prairie Cougars gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They really took it to South Bend Riley for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-24 victory on the road. With New Prairie ahead 34-10 at the half, the match was all but over already.
New Prairie was led to victory by Jayden Flagg and Jolie Johns. Flagg scored 19 points along with three steals, while Johns scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johns has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan White, who scored seven points along with five steals.
Despite the loss, South Bend Riley still got an impressive performance from Serenity Farmer, who scored seven points along with two steals and two blocks.
New Prairie's victory bumped their record up to 15-4. As for South Bend Riley, they bumped their record down to 2-15 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Prairie will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mishawaka at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Mishawaka will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 236th, while New Prairie is ranked 83rd). As for South Bend Riley, they will head out on the road to take on Trinity at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
