After having lost a blowout to Charleston in their previous game, Melbourne was happy to find some success on Friday. Everything went Melbourne's way against Midland as they made off with a 40-14 win. The success represented a nice turnaround for Melbourne, who in their last game suffered a tough 14-37 loss.
Melbourne's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 40 points in the first half. Meanwhile, Midland couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 40-0 heading into the break. Melbourne were outperformed in the second half 0-14 but had enough in reserve to walk away with the contest. The victory bumped their record up to 0-1. The loss dropped Midland back to even at 0-0.
Melbourne will be defending their home turf for the first time next week when they go up against Cave City at 7:00 PM. Midland are packing up and heading on the road for the first time this season. They face off against Quitman next week at Varsity at 7:00 PM.
