There's no place like home for the Washingtonville Wizards, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Monday. They came out on top against Cornwall Central by a score of 51-40 on Thursday. For Washingtonville, this counts as revenge for the 50-45 loss the Dragons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Washingtonville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zion Lynch led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Brownlee, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Washingtonville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Cornwall Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Washingtonville will head out on the road to square off against the Gladiators at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Goshen Central is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Cornwall Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Presidents at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Roosevelt will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 539th, while the Dragons are ranked 254th).
