Central Catholic hasn't had much luck against Chelmsford recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Raiders will head out to face off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m.
Central Catholic is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Dracut. While the Raiders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Middies 25-19 in the first set.
While Central Catholic ultimately came up short, they really made Dracut work, particularly in the second set. The final score came out to 19-25, 26-24, 25-15, 22-25, 15-5.
Meanwhile, Chelmsford had already won seven in a row and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They blew past the Grey Ghosts 3-0.
Chelmsford was especially dominant in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-18, 25-14.
Chelmsford's win came from a few key players Central Catholic will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ryan Heng, who had ten digs and two assists. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last four games he's played. Jayden Som was another key player, getting ten digs and one assist.
Chelmsford was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last six contests.
Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Chelmsford, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3.
Central Catholic might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Chelmsford in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
