Basketball Recap: Robby Sullivan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead South Whidbey over Mt. Baker

South Whidbey lost against Mt. Baker back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The South Whidbey Falcons received a blow as they fell 66-48 to the Mt. Baker Mountaineers. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

South Whidbey lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Robby Sullivan, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 11 points and three steals. Sullivan is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Cody Redford was another key player, putting up ten points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, South Whidbey smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

South Whidbey's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Mt. Baker, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the South Whidbey Falcons duke it out with the Cedar Park Christian Eagles at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. South Whidbey is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season. As for Mt. Baker, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-40 victory against Blaine on the 8th.
