The Sneads Pirates will face off against the Christian Academy of Knoxville Warriors at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Sneads is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Sneads easily dispatched Malone on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Sneads fell just short of Cottondale by a score of 5-3 on Friday. The Pirates haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Sneads saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Williams, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Christian Academy of Knoxville made easy work of Lenoir City on Thursday and carried off a 13-1 win. Considering the Warriors have won four matches by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Christian Academy of Knoxville also got a great performance from Blake Jarrard as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Jarrard has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Christian Academy of Knoxville let Brody Waller and Wyatt Jones run wild. Waller scored two runs while going 1-for-1, while Jones scored two runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Trimble, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
Christian Academy of Knoxville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lenoir City only posted a batting average of .222.
Christian Academy of Knoxville's victory bumped their record up to 7-2-1. As for Sneads, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-7.
Sneads' speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. Sneads has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Christian Academy of Knoxville, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Sneads continue to outrun the ball?
