The South Point Red Raiders posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They blew past North Gaston 83-63. Given South Point's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while North Gaston is ranked 521st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Point was led to victory by Greyson Kines and Jaishawn Woods. Kines scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Woods scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Graham Williams was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
South Point is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for North Gaston, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
South Point will head out on the road to challenge Ashbrook at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ashbrook will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for North Gaston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Huss at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Huss knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully North Gaston likes a good challenge.
