The Vigor Wolves won the last time they faced the Elberta Warriors, and things went their way on Friday too. Vigor took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 46-7 win over Elberta. Given Vigor's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Elberta is ranked 186th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Vigor to victory were Jerrian Graham and CJ Benjamin Jr. Graham threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 passes, while Benjamin Jr rushed for 142 yards on only 12 carries. Benjamin Jr was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Vigor also got help from Gerritt Holcombe who showed off his sure hands for 100 receiving yards.
The win makes it two in a row for Vigor and bumps their season record up to 6-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 35 points. As for Elberta, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vigor will face off against Gulf Shores at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gulf Shores is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Elberta, they will head out on the road to face off against Rain at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rain will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
