The Adams City Eagles were the 73-66 winner over the Aurora Central Trojans when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Adams City took a 76-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of Aurora Central on Monday. Adams City has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Adams City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kevin Casillas. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 19 rebounds. Casillas continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jalen Mckinnies, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Even though they lost, Adams City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aurora Central only pulled down six offensive rebounds.
It was another big night for Alejandro (Alex) Flores, who scored 29 points along with two steals for Aurora Central. Flores is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Charles Laurendine II was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Adams City now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Aurora Central, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Adams City's road trip will continue as they head out to face Gateway at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Gateway knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Adams City likes a good challenge. As for Aurora Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Hinkley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
