On Thursday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, South River made off with a 52-51 victory over Edison.
Alex Grospe was his usual excellent self, scoring 33 points along with two steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of South River's points. Another player making a difference was Eddie Herrera, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
South River's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Edison, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.
South River and Point Pleasant Boro will face off at 1:00 p.m. on January 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Point Pleasant Boro presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than South River in New Jersey (Point Pleasant Boro is ranked 128th, while South River is ranked 324th). As for Edison, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sayreville at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sayreville is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
