The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles will face off against the Heritage Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mountain Vista has five straight wins, Heritage has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Mountain Vista barely beat Rock Canyon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Golden Eagles blew past the Jaguars 9-3 on Wednesday. Considering the Golden Eagles have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Advait Jadhav looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Spike Magill was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cruz Martinez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Mountain Vista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Heritage didn't have quite enough to beat Chaparral on Wednesday and fell 2-1.
Camden Nichols was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Heritage saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Eells, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Mountain Vista's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Heritage, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Mountain Vista couldn't quite finish off Heritage when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Will the Golden Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
