Meanwhile, Dove Creek faced Vail Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Everything went Dove Creek's way against Vail Christian on Saturday as Dove Creek made off with a 54-34 win. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Colten Fury had a dynamite game for Dove Creek, rushing for 209 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per carry, and also throwing for 145 yards and three touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Taber Dejane, who gained 145 total yards and three touchdowns.
Lyons' win bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Dove Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season.
