Moorcroft is 9-1 against Sundance since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The pair will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Moorcroft is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
While Moorcroft couldn't quite beat Glenrock on Saturday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 27-point loss they were dealt on Friday. Moorcroft fell just short of Glenrock by a score of 38-36. The game was a 17-17 toss-up at halftime, but Moorcroft was outscored by Glenrock in the second.
Kaeley Hutchison put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadyn Lubkeman, who scored four points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, Sundance beat Big Horn 49-41 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sundance.
Sundance's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lexie Marchant, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Marchant has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaylin Mills, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Moorcroft has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Sundance, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Moorcroft didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Sundance in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 42-36 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moorcroft since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
