Make it ten blowout wins for the Progreso Red Ants this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat IDEA Sports Park 69-29 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 27-5.
Progreso was led to victory by Alexa Galvan and Sophia Pecina. Galvan scored 23 points along with eight assists and eight steals, while Pecina dropped a triple-double on 26 points, 12 rebounds, and ten steals. Pecina is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorena Cerda, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Progreso is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season. As for IDEA Sports Park, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Progreso will take on Monte Alto at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monte Alto comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. IDEA Sports Park will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Santa Rosa at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th.
