Not much got past Gianna Messick, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Kennedy off the board. Messick has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emma Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Lauren Curiel, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Glendora kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kennedy only managed three.
Meanwhile, Muir hadn't done well against Burbank recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Bulldogs. The win was just business as usual for the Mustangs, who after six games remain undefeated this season.
Sidney Sims made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Sims was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Dailey Mitchell was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Raquel Paez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Muir's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Glendora, their win bumped their record up to 6-0-2.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Glendora hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Muir struggles in that department as they've averaged .413. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
