On Friday, The Gaffney Indians faced the James F. Byrnes Rebels in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Gaffney took a 33-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of James F. Byrnes. Gaffney's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Although Gaffney took the loss, they still got scores from Shane Davidson, Drew Medley, and Jaiden Mcdowell.
The team won by holding Gaffney to a paltry 81 rushing yards and no passing yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to James F. Byrnes' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Chris Foster and his two sacks.
Gaffney's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for James F. Byrnes, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Byrnes, they will be playing at home against Dorman at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dorman is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
