After flying high against Clarksville Christian last Monday, South Haven Christian came back down to earth. South Haven Christian took a 68-52 bruising from Horizon Christian Academy on Saturday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as South Haven Christian came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 158th in Tennessee, while Horizon Christian Academy is ranked 410th in Georgia).
Horizon Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jacob Salvador, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Salvador pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cooper Johnson, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
South Haven Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Horizon Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Haven Christian will face off against Pleasant View Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pleasant View Christian is on a four-game streak of home wins, South Haven Christian a five-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Horizon Christian Academy on the road again on Tuesday and play against Academe of the Oaks at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th. Academe of the Oaks is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
