Madison Christian extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-7. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of Liberty Christian Academy. Madison Christian was not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Liberty Christian Academy earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

Gideon Schafer was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Madison Christian is 2-1 when Schafer posts eight or more strikeouts, but 3-6 otherwise. Schafer was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Griffin Sprague was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base. Patrick Foster was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
As for Liberty Christian Academy, their record now sits at 4-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Madison Christian, Liberty Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Dawson Kamppi. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Kamppi has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025.
In other batting news, Jackson Cecil was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Max LaPorte, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Looking ahead, Madison Christian will venture away from home to face off against Northside Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they will welcome Fisher Catholic at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
