The Burlington Township Falcons will head out on the road to take on Doane Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Burlington Township has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Burlington Township posted their biggest victory since December 18, 2023 on Thursday. Everything went their way against Burlington City as Burlington Township made off with a 74-49 victory. Given Burlington Township's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Burlington City is ranked 380th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burlington Township's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaron Ferguson, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Ferguson is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tj Morrison, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Doane Academy had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Delran 63-48 on Saturday. The victory was just what Doane Academy needed coming off of a 56-34 defeat in their prior game.
Nick Fusco continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with five assists and two steals. Colin Warman was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Burlington Township's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Doane Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.
Monday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy matchup: Burlington Township have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Doane Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 24.5 rebounds per game. Given Burlington Township's sizeable advantage in that area, Doane Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Burlington Township against Doane Academy in their previous meeting on January 2nd as the team secured a 69-26 win. With Burlington Township ahead 32-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.
